The JMI Global is an annual international event that brings together the world of youth and music to explore the future, build bridges, strengthen collaboration and
create all kinds of awesome!

The JMI Global is a 2-day conference to be held on the 12th and 13th of July at the L’Ateneu in Banyoles. Under the theme Rhythms of Resilience, the JMI Global will take delegates on a journey of reflection, discovery and learning from around the measures being taken in the international youth-music community to create more resilient and sustainable cultural movements that enable youth to creatively thrive.

The JMI Global is an open event for anyone engaged in the world of youth and music. It features showcases by amazing young musicians, inspirational talks, vibrant networking, wonderous workshops and more! The JMI Global provides something for everybody, sparking collaboration and exchange in order to make a greater impact on the world through music.

Introducing the JMI Global Showcase Artists

Las Lloronas (Belgium)

Las Lloronas is a Brussels-based trio that merges acoustic music with slam poetry. Three voices assert their intimate lyrics, they soak in harmonies and melancholic melodies. In their performance, Las Lloronas share a moment of powerful vulnerability, on the verge of lament, daydream and battle cry.

Hanke Brothers (Germany)

Diversity, the joy of experimentation, exploring new frontiers - these are the four brothers' lifeblood. Each of them does it in a very special way, most impressively when all four of them are on stage. The rule is: no concert is like any other, no piece is as you know it and the instruments do not always play what you expect. The HANKE BROTHERS take the audience out of their reserve, surprise them, take them along and lead them with verve and bravura to clamorous ovations. "We touch hearts, that's why we're here."

Faith Mussa (Malawi)

Faith Mussa is currently Malawi’s first and only “electronic 1 man band” combining traditional African vibes with Modern Sounds. He has also been part of prestigious music festivals all over the world like Glastonbury 2017 - UK, Watana music festival 2018 - Mozambique, Lake of Stars - Malawi & UK, Sauti za Busara 2019 - Zanzibar and many others.

Vimma (Finland)

VIMMA is a young art-pop ensemble from Helsinki combining Nordic folk with progressive rock. VIMMA creates a massive sound with specific arrangements while also leaving space for artistic interpretation and improvisation. The band’s music is mostly composed by its producer and violinist Pessi Jouste. Vimma is a Finnish word for furor and excitement that represents the artists’ passion for imagining utopian worlds and awakening their audiences to bring about change for a more sustainable future. Topical lyrics and spoken word poetry bring extra vitality and excitement to the energetic music.

VIMMA was selected as The Newcomer Of The Year at the Finnish Ethno Awards in 2020.

Trio Oro (Norway)

For the past three years, TRIO ORO has performed at the Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Music Festival Oslo, Go Figure International Figure Festival, Market for Music (Larvik), Sofar Sound, Blårollinger, tour along the Helgeland coast under the auspices of Music in Nordland, DKS tour under the direction by Bærum DKS with Torunn Tusj as producer, and had a release for the double album Trilogy No 1, which consists of the EPs They Are Ready, They Are Back, and Here We Go Again. The release concert was held at Kulturhuset in Oslo.

DISCONCERTO by Orthemis Orchestra (Spain)

More spectacular than ever!!! With classical music, physical theatre and slapstick comedy, DISCONCERTO is a delight for audiences of ALL ages. Following the success of Concerto a Tempo d’Umore, Jordi Purtí and the Orthemis Orchestra are back with a brand-new show that puts an innovative spin on your run-of-the-mill concert experience: the musicians remain on their feet the entire time to act out non-stop on-stage sketches! With DISCONCERTO, the Catalan chamber orchestra welcomes audiences of all ages back into the world of classical music. This unforgettable experience, jam-packed with whimsy and humour, will get spectators’ hearts beating to the rhythm and character of the physical theatre, while the classically-trained musicians and the virtuosity of their performance leave everyone in awe.

Criatures (Spain)

Criatures is a musical group that accompanies the public in travelling through different time periods . The combination of the gralla and the accordion, transports the spectator to a myriad of imaginations. The music is reinterpreted with warmth, humiliation and beauty because each chord that they propose is the result of a double friendship: the one we all maintain together through Mediterranean sounds of our land.

Alba Alsina Quintet (Spain)

In February 2020, Alba Alsina published her first album as leader, saxophonist and full composer of El Principio (Self-published, 2020) with which she brings a new approach to jazz, fusing flamenco rhythmic roots with electronic elements (synthesizers, effects, etc.). Alba Alsina's language is made of jazz tradition and flamenco-jazz elements, generating unique sonorities and textures. She is accompanied by an exceptional band of young musicians. They are; Tom Amat on piano, Carlos Bayolo on bass and Alberto Garrido on drums.

Cat Klezmer Trio (Spain)

Cat Klezmer Trio proposes "Una Volta al Món en 80 minuts", an intimate and explosive show that runs through some of the most representative songs of Klezmer music, with a typical formation of the style: clarinet-guitar-contrabaix . As if it is a short trip, we can also hear the sounds of other music: Brazilian choros, Rio Tango tango, Catalan sardanas or gypsy lamentations.

Delegates who choose the JMI Global Hotel or JMI AGA Packages will be hosted at the magical Hotel Carlemany in the beautiful city of Girona. Shuttles will be arranged daily to and from Banyoles and other JMI Global venues.

(Annual General Assembly)

The JMI AGA (Annual General Assembly) brings together the JM International network from around the world in order to advance the global youth and music agenda. It is the democratic heart of the organisation, deciding on statutory issues, holding elections for its’ various program bodies and shaping the future of the movement. It is also a moment for members to connect and engage, to recharge, be inspired and share best practices from around the globe.
